Lloyd J. Heard

	Lloyd J. 'Buck' Heard, age 83, of Pinckneyville, passed away Friday morning, February 1, 2002 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
	Lloyd was born in Pinckneyville on August 22, 1918, the son of Royden Keith and Charlotte I. (Conrad) Heard.  He married Evelyn Powers on February 22, 1942 at the First Baptist Church, Cape Girardeau, Mo. and she survives.
	He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, was a coal miner for 45 years, a member of the United Mine Workers of America, a member of the Steeleville American Legion, played on the 'Blue Streaks' Pinckneyville High School Basketball Team which went to state in 1935 and was a member of First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville.
	Survivors include his wife:  Evelyn of Pinckneyville, sons:  James L. heard of Shelbyville, Tenn., Fred Heard of DuQuoin, David Heard and a special friend, Debbie of Coulterville, daughters:  Ruth Hawkins and her husband, Jerry, of DuQuoin, Kathy Stroehlein and her husband, John, of Pinckneyville, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one cousin:  Charlotte Kinney of Belleville, along with many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter:  Janet and one brother:  Royden.
	Funeral services were held on Monday, February 4 at 11 a.m. in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, with Rev. James Bush officiating.  Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville.
	Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
	Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Perry County.
